Hygiene Education

In order to make the materials more accessible they have been designed to provoke children's imaginations rather than just focusing on dry theory. The packs therefore contain informative comics, learning games, cards and puppet theatre. To get over potential language barriers the base materials are word-free, and the accompanying worksheets have been translated into the 6 UN languages.

 

Participative School Competitions and Local Sanitation Awareness Raising

So that the kids can take their learning outside of the classroom, and particularly into their families, we are very aware of the need to involve outside partners in the process.  A good example of this comes in the form of prize ceremonies for poster competitions, puppet theatre performances and quiz champions. Where possible these awards should be presented by local politicians or at the local council.  The pack therefore also contains invitations, certificates and prizes for the participating children.

 

Bonus points are given to children who succeed in bringing their families or local communities into their project.

 

Book / DVD

The best posters from around the world are compiled in a book / DVD and website promoting the issue beyond IYS 2008.  This provides children with a strong voice, with which to call for further political action.
