In order to aid in the reconstruction efforts of the Indonesian province of Aceh, the GTO collaborated with the World Toilet Organization, as well as local partners, in the establishment of the World Toilet College in the provincial capital Banda Aceh.

 

Local NGOs, construction firms, students, professors and policy makers took part in a two week long crash course in basic sanitary provisions.

 

An introduction in theoretical perspectives was followed by practical implementation. The training staff supervised five small groups in the planning of their first sanitation systems.
