The German Toilet Organization (GTO) implements its first project in Zambia.
In close cooperation with Pestalozzi World, the Water and Sanitation Association of Zambia (WASAZA) and local partners, the GTO assisted in creating a sustainable sanitation system at a peri-urban school in Lusaka, the Zambian capital.
The installation of the new system will result in a healthier and more dignified learning environment for more than 2000 school children and will also set a good example for further projects. The students will learn about hygiene, solid waste management and the importance of safe sanitation, and in doing so will become ambassadors in carrying their newly acquired knowledge into their communities.
A big thank you goes to Jeannette Laramee for her excellent work in supervising, coordinating and managing the construction of the project.
We also thank Christopher Kellner for his design work and guidance of the masons.
