Over 60% of the world's population live without adequate sanitation. This is becoming a problem, because where toilets, clean drinking water and washing facilities are lacking, pathogens can spread particularly quickly and subsequently cause life-threatening diseases, such as COVID-19. However, it is not only the global sanitary situation that is concerning, but also the condition of and the way in which many school toilets are used in Germany.

The training offers materials, methods and teaching modules from the learning area of global development on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). Teachers, educators, (freelance) educational advisors and multipliers can use them to make global issues visible, reflect on them and use them for lessons or project work in the school environment. Using the example of their own school toilets, students experience direct access to the topics. The aim is to make the topic of toilets and hygiene, as well as sustainable development and human rights, a vivid and variable topic in schools, to anchor it in the school curriculum and to carry out concrete actions to improve the sanitary situation. The training imparts knowledge and practice of global learning and education for sustainable development and shows the possibilities for cooperation between schools and civil society.

Further information about the program will be announced soon.
